Michael Rosenblatt, Chairman and Founder of The Quest Organization recently led a three-hour executive session for MBA students in the National Chengchi University (NCCU) Banking and Finance Program, hosted at Baruch College in New York City.
Titled Inside Top Family Offices: Governance, Wealth Strategy, and Multigenerational Impact, the session offered a deep dive into the evolving structure and strategy of modern family offices.
Michael began by breaking down the family office landscape, including how these entities differ from traditional investment vehicles like private equity and hedge funds, and why they have grown so rapidly in recent years. He walked students through structural models such as single-family and multi-family offices, along with the economic advantages of permanent capital and direct investing.
The session then shifted into governance and generational dynamics, highlighting how family offices balance entrepreneurial origins with increasing institutional discipline. Michael covered key frameworks such as family constitutions, investment committees, and the challenges of maintaining alignment across generations.
On the investment side, students explored current asset allocation trends, including increased exposure to private markets, real assets, and direct deals. The conversation also touched on the rise of ESG and impact investing, and how family offices are uniquely positioned to align capital with long-term values.
The session concluded with a forward-looking discussion on talent, organizational design, and the growing role of AI in transforming family offices from reactive managers into proactive, data-driven decision-makers.
Overall, the session provided MBA students with a rare, inside look at how some of the most sophisticated pools of capital in the world are structured, governed, and deployed.
