Most companies had to adapt to working from home (fully remote working) and a hybrid policy (working several days a week from home and some days in the office) due to the pandemic.
While we are still experiencing some of the effects of the pandemic and the variants of Covid-19, many of the regulations that were put in place have been removed and numerous companies want their employees back in the office full time or most of the time.
We have seen a lot of resistance from employees when their employers ask them to start going back to the office full time or most of the time. While remote working has been quite effective for certain jobs and companies, it doesn’t work for everyone.
The challenge is how do you get employees who got used to working from home and not having to travel, dress up, get childcare or other healthcare assistance, etc. to now go back to the office and incur all of those things that they didn’t have to do for approximately 2 years.
We strongly recommend that you address this issue with your employees rather than just adopt a new “back to the office full time” policy.
Many of the candidates that we have spoken with, would immediately start to look for another job if they were required to go back to the office full time.
We recommend communicating with your employees, possibly taking a poll, and then starting with a hybrid approach vs full time, which is quite an extreme change from fully remote.
