From speaking with CEO’s and Human Resource Directors nationwide, we have found the following to be the most significant trends in the job market for 2022 and going into 2023:

1) SOCIAL BELIEFS- candidates are looking for employers that have the same social beliefs as they do. These issues may include diversity, racism, gender pay, inclusion and even their political views. We are finding that more candidates when researching potential employers, are making these issues a significant part of their decision to interview with a company.

2) COMPENSATION- Previously you would not address compensation especially at the early stages of the interview process, however with social media, people are finding out more about how their peers are being paid and that is now becoming an “up front” issue for some candidates. We do not recommend that you discuss compensation early in the process, however you should be aware of the salary range up front, to make sure that you are not wasting your time or the prospective employer’s time, if the numbers do not align.

3) FLEXIBILITY- The pandemic created a whole new concept of people working from home and that trend has not abated. Technology has made it easier for people to work from home and avoid the travel time, cost of travel, inconvenience of travel, lack of safety in big cities, additional cost of eating out and buying clothes for the office, etc. While many companies want their employees back in the office, many employees will not go back at all or will only work on a hybrid basis.
