HOW TO HANDLE THE SHORTAGE OF TALENT
Scarcity of talent is a significant issue today. It began with Covid-19, and since we have been recovering from the pandemic, there has been rapid business and economic expansion, technology continues to change the employment playing field and a change in employees attitudes toward work continues to be an important issue.
There are a number of things that you can do as an employer to work through the lack of candidates for your hiring needs.
1) Compensation-In order to attract and retain your employees, you need to make sure that your company is competitive with their compensation including salaries, bonuses and long-term incentives.
2) Working conditions- companies that offer flexibility with working remotely or a hybrid arrangement have a significant advantage to those requiring employees to work in the office full time.
3) Environment- One of the major gripes that we hear from employees who are unhappy in their current work environment is that they feel disrespected at work.
In some cases, it is the result of an ineffective manager, or it can also be the office culture overall. Where the firm allows screaming, swearing or even political discussions, it can become a hostile environment and in today’s market, people will quit without having a job if they feel uncomfortable or disrespected.
