As most employers are aware, we are still dealing with a shortage of qualified candidates for their hiring needs. We have previously discussed putting together a strategic plan for hiring, which would entail bringing together all of the involved parties and coming up with a detailed job description and the requirements for the position.

Additionally, we also recommend a well planned interview process. Because there are so many job openings, every candidate that you interview may already have several other potential offers from your competitors. While it is essential that you probe the candidates to find out if they are technically qualified and a “culture fit”, it is also equally important that you present your company and the opportunity in a positive light as well. Many employers do not put enough effort into “selling the candidate” on why their company and opportunity would be the better place for the candidate to enjoy a long term career.
