COMPANIES AND FAMILY OFFICES WANT THEIR EMPLOYEES BACK IN THE OFFICE

With the potential of a recession looming, inflation still high and interest rates increasing again for the 9th time, employers are looking for ways to run their businesses more cost effectively.
In order to be more effective in running their businesses or family offices, management is looking to gain more control over their employees, and a number of them are concerned that the productivity of employees working at home has been on a constant decline.
When the pandemic first occurred, most employees were forced to work at home and many of them adapted quite well. Things have changed however, because when the pandemic first occurred, everything was closed down and there weren’t many things for people to do or places to go. Fast forward to today, when everything is open and the weather is getting warmer and people are heading out to play golf, jog, play tennis or pickleball, eat out, go to a park, meet friends or relatives, etc.
A large number of employers have mentioned that due to lower productivity by some of their remote workers, they are requiring them to go back to the office. Real Estate and Construction Companies are even more interested in getting their employees back to the office, as they feel that if they don’t require the workers back, how can they expect their tenants to require their employees to return to the office.
Unfortunately for the employers, most remote workers have gotten used to the flexibility of working at home, and do not want to commute back to the office.
While currently it is still an employees market, and they can still demand more flexibility from their employers, the trend is definitely to require employees back to the office and if we do have a recession, employers will get the upper hand and there will be less and less of remote working.
